KHATAN EKH National Dance and Song Ensemble

The national song and dance ensemble “Khatan Ekh” was established at the “Discover Mongolia” tourist center with 21 artistes in the spring of 2006. This ensemble introduces its performance consisting of wonderful kinds of Mongolian traditional art such as long song, throat singing (unusual traditional vocal technique), eulogy, contortion, national dance, morin khuur (horse headed fiddle) and other national instruments. The singer, State Honored Artist of Mongolia O.Bazarbat, the singer, State Honored Artist of Mongolia Ts.Chuluuntsetseg, teacher of Choreographic college at the University of Culture and Art, leading artist of Mongolia A.Khosbayar, the lecturer of the University of Culture and Art, leading artist of Mongolia S.Uranbileg and other talented solo dancers demonstrate their skills for you.

The Tumen Ekh Ensemble is one of the best national sond and dance ensembles in Mongolia. "Tuman Ekh" in the Mongolian (language) is the expression of "a leader or vanguard of everything". In 1989, a group of outstanding artists took the name of the famous folk song "Tumen Ekh", and joined together to form this ensemble.

The ensemble's repertoire includes dances reflecting Mongolian folklore and religious rituals. Our ensemble has been attracting spectators' satisfaction and pleasures by performing multi nations' folklore and world's classic works in high cultural level.

Circus

Mongolian Circus is appreciated by foreign tourists and visitors with its extraordinary performances. Foreigners especially would like to see contortion and heavy athletic performances.
The State Circus has a very comfortable modern building with 1200 seats and has a yurt design. It has been showing a lot of famous performances during the past 60 years of establishment. The circus school was founded in the 1940 and showed its first performance in 1941. Since that time the National Circus has been preparing its own specialist at school in Mongolia and abroad. The Grand Prix and Gold and Silver medals were awarded in international festivals held in Paris, Beijing.

The State Circus
The National Circus of Mongolia was established in 1940. Since then it has become one of the most prosperous organizations in the Mongolian cultural world, was the start of famous artists' careers. There are main 7 types of performances: acrobatics, gymnastics, juggling, tightrope walking, animal acts, clowns, and magic tricks, and the circus is perhaps best known for its contortionists.

The Circus has performed in many different countries introducing the Mongolian circus to the world, including the United States of America, Austria, Switzerland, Japan, Germany, Holland, Italy, France, Norway, Great Britain, Korea, Russia, and China. The members of the Circus have also taken part in international circus competitions where they have won gold, silver, and bronze medals. Contortionist Lodoyn Enkhtsetseg won her first gold medal in 1983 in Paris.

Later the contortionist sisters Erdentuya & Oyunchimeg won the Monte Carlo "Silver Clown" award in 1986. In addition to the contortionist accomplishments, the National Circus troupe is also well known for its jumping acrobats and performances using heavy weights.
